More Congressmen are taking notice

Congress is coming back from recess and the Kings Point accreditation issues and sea year issues have captured the attention of several of our elected officials. Read this awesome letter and look at the pointed questions that are being asked.

Important takeaways from the letter:

  1. Congress isn’t being distracted by the VERY SIGNIFICANT accreditation issues AT THE ACADEMY by the distraction technique of announcing the sea year stand down cancellation.
  2. Congress is asking for the data supporting the sea year stand down cancellation.
  3. “What planning was done with industry, faculty . . . and the Midshipment prior to removing Midshipmen from assigned ships?”  GREAT QUESTION.
  4. And look at that concluding question.  A whole lot of people are looking at the same evidence that is being posted on this website and coming up with the same concern that we raised in “Why the Kings Point Sentry.”   (And ask yourself this question — “If MARAD’s goal was to close the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy without getting Congressional approval to do so, what would it do differently than what it has been doing for the last four years?”)

Especially if you are in a state or district where one of these Senators or Representatives sits, please write, call or email their office and thank them for this letter and urge them to follow up.  Let them know that you are going to show your appreciation in the voting booth.  Bravo Zulu to Representatives Pete Sessions (TX) (who has been on top of this from the very beginning) Peter T. King (NY 2nd) (who also wrote an important letter earlier this week),  Jackie Walorski (IN 2nd), Dennis Ross (FL 15th), Virginia Foxx (NC 5th), Ron Kind (WI 3rd), Lee Zeldin (NY 1st), Derek Kilmer (WA 6th), Kathleen Rice (NY 4th), Chris Gibson (NY 19th); Chris Smith (NJ 4th) and Ron DeSantis (FL 6th)  and Senator Roger Wicker (MS).
